This family was having severe noise problems in one bedroom and the living room. A family room was converted into a kennel for breeding dachshunds. The noise traveled through the uninsulated walls and made the adjacent bedroom and living room unlivable. The solution was to install a special sound attenuation insulation made by Thermafiber. The walls were furred 1 1/2' and new studs installed with Green Gasket Sound Tape to decouple the sound transmission from hard surface to hard surface. One layer of 1/2' sheetrock was installed followed by a 2nd layer of 1/2' sheetrock with Green Glue in between. The Green Glue provides a rubber like layer between the two sheets of sheetrock which helps in sound deadening.
